About Grundy Park Gymnastics Club
Meet the family.
Meet the family behind Grundy Park Gymnastics Club who have shared their love of gymnastics for generations.
Where it began...
Grundy Park Gymnastics Club is a family-run club led by husband and wife Tony and Julie, alongside their daughter Sophie. Tony and Julie are former high-level gymnasts, with Julie having represented Great Britain as a member of the GB squad.
Founded in 1982, the club began at Grundy Park Leisure Centre (which is where we get our name from) in Cheshunt, now known as Laura Trott Leisure Centre, and were based at Blackwater Leisure Centre in Maldon for the past 23 years until 2025 when the sports hall was no longer available to use. 2026 saw Grundy Park Gymnastics Club open their doors to their Maldon Gymnastics Club located within the Wycke Hill Business Park in Maldon, just a stone’s throw away from Tony and Julie’s family home! Our classes are fully recreational and inclusive, focusing on building confidence, self-esteem, and physical fitness in a fun and supportive environment.
Sophie, who has a background in dance and musical theatre, has coached with the club for over 10 years, completing our experienced family coaching team.
Grundy Park Gymnastics Club has been delivering high-quality Maldon gymnastics for over 20 years. As an established gymnastics club in Maldon and a British Gymnastics affiliated club, we provide toddler gymnastics, pre-school gymnastics, and recreational gymnastics in a relaxed, encouraging environment.
In 2026, we opened our own purpose-built gymnastics facility in Maldon, giving children a dedicated space to enjoy gymnastics in Maldon safely and confidently.

A New Home for Our Gymnasts
In 2026, Grundy Park Gymnastics reached an exciting milestone by opening our very own dedicated gymnastics gym in Maldon. Having our own space has allowed us to expand our timetable, offer more classes, and invest in brand-new gymnastics equipment to support gymnasts of all ages and abilities.
Our Maldon gymnastics club is now based in a welcoming, purpose-built facility designed to create a safe, inspiring and enjoyable environment for children to learn, train and grow in confidence. The new gym has enabled us to improve the overall experience for our gymnasts while continuing to develop our coaching programmes.
